Session 22 Meeting Minutes & Resources
Sandy Howle (Canine Behavior & Training Specialist at The KONG Company) gave the featured presentation entitled, "KONG Essentials Training" (available in the Session 22 video.) She discussed how KONG's variety of products (appropriate for teething / puppy chewers all the way to extreme chewers) are vital tools in the mental and physical enrichment of dogs' lives in home and shelter environments. In addition to Sandy's informative presentation, the KONG Classroom website offers a variety of instructional videos related to animal behavior, which you can find here. KONG also provides virtual trainings for emergency shelter staff and volunteers. If you are interested in these trainings or if you have any questions, please email Sandy at Sandy.Howle@kongcompany.com.
We provided insight into the Collaborative's third open house, co-hosted by PATH, which took place in Los Angeles on April 21. The event was generously sponsored by Michelson Found Animals, Lil BUB's Big Fund, and Maddie's Fund. 37 people across homeless services and animal welfare attended, representing 20 organizations. These individuals will receive access to quarterly support meetings as an LA-based cohort. Watch the event recap video here!
Registration is now open for the next Collaborative open house in Cincinnati, Ohio on Friday, August 4! Join us to learn about how Found House Interfaith Housing Network has grown from operating emergency shelter for families and creating a Pet Support Program which offers services to pet owners across the area, to building its first pet-inclusive housing program. RSVP at this link by July 24 and email any questions to Christine Kim at Christine@mydogismyhome.org.

In MEMBER INTRODUCTIONS
Dear Co-Sheltering Collaborative Members, We are grateful for the opportunity to work with you! This forum is a wonderful space in which we can learn more about each other. Feel free to share something about yourself in the conversation below (e.g. about your background, your hopes, or your interests). For fun, here are a few questions to get you started. (You may answer one, none, or as many as you like.) What does a perfect day look like for you? What superpower would you want to have (invisibility, flight, speed, etc.)? What fictional world or place would you like to visit? If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be? We look forward to reading your responses! You are invited to My Dog Is My Home's first in-person, regional Co-Sheltering Collaborative open house on Friday, August 5 at GRACE Marketplace in Gainesville, Florida from 1 PM to 4 PM. GRACE’s mission is to end homelessness by providing safe shelter, effective services, and permanent housing solutions. We will be touring GRACE’s Co-Sheltering & Animal Welfare program, hearing from GRACE about their policies and procedures, and listening to shelter residents, all with the goal of building a regional network of providers that can support each other through the various phases of co-sheltering. We'd be honored to have your attendance and support. Please RSVP to Sarah Hernandez at SarahH@mydogismyhome.org by Friday, July 22 and feel free to reach out to her with any questions. Spaces are limited and we will be following a COVID safety plan. It’d be wonderful if you could share our invitation and flyer with colleagues who might be interested in attending. Our open houses are made possible by the generous support of Maddie's Fund®, #ThanksToMaddie.
